RAB seeks time for 62nd time to probe Sagar-Runi murder

A Dhaka court has fixed 12 May as the new date for submission of the probe report on the murder of journalist couple Sagar Sarwar and Meherun Runi.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Debabrata Biswas issued the order as RAB failed to submit the report on Sunday.

With this, the elite force sought time for the 62nd time and the court so far deferred the date for 64 times. 

According to lawyers, the RAB did not even submit any report to the court about the progress of its investigation.

Sagar Sarwar, news editor of a private television channel Masranga, and Meherun Runi, senior reporter of another private television channel ATN Bangla, were killed at their Paschim Rajabazar residence in the capital Dhaka on 11 February 2012.

Runi’s brother Nawsher Alam filed a lawsuit with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station in connection with the murders.
