3 suspected ‘Rohingya robbers’ killed in ‘gunfight’

Gunfight IllustrationThree suspected Rohingya robbers were killed in an alleged 'gunfight' with police in Habiber Ghona hilly area in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar early Saturday, reports UNB.

The deceased Nur Alam, 23, Mohammad Jubayer, 20 and Hamid Ullah, 21, are residents of 'A-block' of Nayapara Rohingya camp at Hneela union.

Officer-in-charge of Teknaf police station Pradip Kumar Das said that a team of police conducted a drive around 2:30am on information that a gang of robbers was depositing arms in the hilly area.

Sensing the presence of police, the gang members opened fire, forcing them to fire back, triggering the gunfight.

After the gunfight, police retrieved three men sustaining bullet-wounds from the spot.

Later, they died on the way to hospital.

Police also recovered four light weapons from the scene.
