Man held for ‘raping’ step-daughter

Police arrested a man from Lakshmipur Bhatapara area in Rajshahi city on Friday evening on allegation of raping his step daughter, reports UNB.

Arrested Mahfuzur Raham is a rickshaw puller by profession.

Nuruzzaman Tuku, a councillor of ward no. 6 of Rajshahi City Corporation, said Mahfuzur had been raping the girl for long.

When Mahfuzur tried to rape the girl again in the evening, locals surrounded the house and caught him when he tried to flee the scene, he added.

Rajpara police station officer-in-charge Hafizur Rahman said they detained the alleged rapist.
