Police arrested a Bangladeshi youth who appeared in Indian TV comedy show 'Mirakkel' on Wednesday for allegedly raping a Chittagong University student, reports UNB.

The accused, Mohammad Kaikobad, is also a dramatics student at the university.

Kaikobad was arrested from the campus after a female student filed a case against him, said Belal Uddin Jahangir, officer-in-charge of Hathazari police station.

The two got into a relationship after meeting on Facebook in January last year. Kaikobad later forced the girl into a physical relationship by blackmailing her as per case statement, UNB says.

Kaikobad asked her to meet him on 29 April on the campus. He allegedly verbally abused her and physically assaulted her before dragging the girl to the Shah Amanat Hall's guest room, UNB quotes the victim as saying.

Later, the university's proctorial body members rescued her, she said.
