Kazi Shahidullah appointed as new UGC chairman

Professor Kazi Shahidullah, former vice chancellor of National University, has been appointed as the new chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), reports UNB.

Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education issued a notification on Wednesday in this regard.

Kazi Shahidullah, a professor of the Department of History at University of Dhaka has been appointed for a four-year term.

Its previous chairman professor Abdul Mannan's term came to an end on 7 May.

Since then professor Yusuf Ali Molla, the senior-most official of Bangladesh University Grants Commission, served as its acting chairman.
