‘Raped by lover’, teen becomes pregnant

Police in Savar on Thursday arrested a young man for allegedly raping a teenage girl in Savar whereby she 'became' seven months pregnant, reports UNB.

The arrested person is identified as Kawsar Islam Shahin, 30, son of Abdus Salam of Hetalia village of Bhandaria upazila in Pirojpur.

Shahin had been living in Hemayetpur when he developed a love relationship with the victim hailing from Tetuljhara. He had violated her at the promise to marry her.

However, when the victim became pregnant, Shahin refused to marry her prompting the victim to file a case with Savar Model police station.

Officer-in-charge of the police station Sawgatul Islam said Shahin was sent to jail through a court.

He also said the youth denied knowing the victim.
