Probe report in FR Tower fire case 7 July

A Dhaka court on Wednesday set 7 July to submit probe report in the case lodged over deadly fire in FR Tower in the capital’s Banani area on 28 March this year, reports BSS.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Debdas Chandra Adhikari set the date as investigation officer failed to submit the report today.

A total of 26 people were killed and 73 others were injured in the fire that quickly engulfed the 22-storey building on Road-17 at Kamal Ataturk Avenue area in Banani.

Banani police box in-charge sub-inspector Milton Dutta filed the case on 30 March with Banani police station.

Police made Tasvir Ul Islam, one of the owners of FR Tower, SMHI Faruque, the land owner of the building, and Rupayan Group chairman Liyakat Ali Khan Mukul, accused in the case.

They have been blamed for collusion in causing loss of lives and properties with evil intention, causing loss of lives, severe injuries and damage to properties in fire caused by severe negligence, in the case.

Tasvir and Faruque were arrested from different parts of the city on 30 March and were put on remand in the case.
