Two people, including a 15-year-old boy, drowned in river Bakkhali of Ramu, Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday, reports UNB.

The deceased were Amir Hossain, 28, son of late Habib Ullah from West Umkhali, and Md Shahed, 15, son of Sultan Ahmed from South Mitha Chhori union in the upazila.

Shahed was a class-IX student at South Mitha Chhori High School.

They were crossing the river with cattle at 11:00am and went missing after being washed away by high tide, said Obaidul, team leader of Cox's Bazar Fire Service.

Fire Service members rushed to the spot and recovered Amir's body around noon. Shahed's body was found around 4:00pm.

UNB quoted Pronoy Chakma, upazila nirbahi officer of Ramu, saying the administration would assist the victims' families as much as possible.
