Man killed in BGB ‘gunfight’

A man was killed in what law enforcers called a gunfight with members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) near Golabari border area of Cumilla's Sadar upazila early Tuesday, reports UNB.

The deceased Abdul Malek, son of Abdul Khalek, resident of Ramchandrapur village in Chouddogram upazila was a drug trader, according to BGB.

Abu Mohhammad Mohiuddin, commanding officer of BGB-10 battalion, said that on information about a gunfight between two groups of drug dealers, a team of BGB conducted a drive in Jaluapara area.

When the BGB team reached the spot, the criminals fired shots towards the border troopers, triggering a skirmish.

"His body and 30,000 yaba pills were recovered from the spot after the gunfight," he said.
