Bangladesh seeks visa-on-arrival from Mauritius

State minister for civil aviation and tourism Md Mahbub Ali on Saturday urged the government of Mauritius to provide on-arrival visa facility for Bangladeshi tourists, reports UNB.

The state minister made the request in a meeting with his Mauritian counterpart Anil Kumar Gayan at Port Louis. He also urged initiatives for further development of tourism between the two countries.

In the meeting, they discussed different bilateral issues of mutual interest. Various issues related to the well-being of Bangladeshi expatriates in Mauritius also were on the table.

Describing Bangladesh as a role model for developing countries, Anil Kumar Gayan praised Bangladeshi prime minister Sheikh Hasina's leadership. He thanked his Bangladeshi counterpart for his visit to the country. He also assured that Mauritius is sincere about providing the on-arrival visa facility to Bangladeshi tourists.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to Mauritius Rezina Ahmed, the tourism secretary of Mauritius, along with other senior officials of both countries, were present during the meeting.

After the meeting, the Bangladesh delegation visited a garment factory in Mauritius.

Almost 24,000 Bangladeshis are working in different garment factories in Mauritius.
