Gono Forum president and Jatiya Oikya Front convener Kamal Hossain has said the unity of the Front exists firm and moves are on to expedite the movement for a fresh election.

He told journalists after exchanging Eid greetings with leaders and activists of his party at his Baily Road residence in the capital on Thursday.

"We’re planning to hold a meeting on 12 June and work out a strategy to launch a movement to force the government to hold a fresh election," Kamal said.

He also said they are working to make the people united.

"We have to make the people united to free the country from the clutch of the autocratic ruler. The conscious political parties need to be united in this regard as well," Kamal said.

He also said the interest of the people for change will grow as the law and order state has deteriorated.

"There is no democracy in the country. An anarchic situation has been created. The incidents of rape are rising alarmingly. It is now urgent to restore democracy," the Oikya Front leader observed.
