Teacher handed over to police for 'sexually harassing' fifth grader

A primary school teacher has been handed over to police allegedly for sexually harassing a female student at his school in Natore's Lalpur upazila.

Showing the teacher Abdul Halim arrested in a sexual harassment case, police sent him to a cognizance court on Monday.

The students of Pujipukur Primary School caught him red-handed while he was harassing the fifth grader girl in his classroom and handed him over to the police on Sunday.

The students said that they, hearing a scream, came to the classroom where Abdul Halim was alone with the girl and was sexually harassing her.

On information, police came to the school and detained Abdul Halim.

A case was filed in this regard on Sunday night, according to police.

A student of the school said that several allegations were previously raised against the teacher for teasing and sexually harassing female students.

Lalpur police station officer-in-charge, Nazrul Islam, confirmed the arrest of the teacher.
