Three people, including two minors, died after being diagnosed with dengue in the capital and Barishal on Friday, reports UNB.

Mehraz Hasan, 8, and Rifat, 10, died at Dhaka hospitals. The death of Mujibur Rahman Mollah, 52, was reported from Barishal.

Mehraz, undergoing treatment at the United Hospital, died around 8:59am. Rifat, son of Khorshed from Jamalpur, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Thursday night. He died in the early hours of Friday, hospital sources said.

In Barishal, Mujibur Rahman Mollah, 52, died of dengue while undergoing treatment at Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital around 2:00am.
Mujibor, also the general secretary of Barguna Rifles Club, was admitted to the hospital around 11:30pm on Thursday, said Bakir Hossain, director of the hospital.
Mujibor came here with fever from Dhaka, he said.
The government is grappling with a growing number of dengue cases and most them are being reported from Dhaka, the densely-populated megacity at the centre of the outbreak.
A total of 2,002 people were hospitalised with dengue infection in 24 hours until Friday morning, the government said. Of these, 943 cases were reported from Dhaka alone.
Since January, 36,668 patients were admitted to hospitals with dengue and 27,876 made full recovery, the government said.
At least 8,763 patients, including children, are undergoing treatment at hospitals and of them, 5,076 are in Dhaka.
Official data show the death toll as 29 but unofficial estimates suggest the number is higher.
