Bullet hit body of man recovered

The bullet-hit body of a man was recovered by police from Islampur area on the outskirts of Satkhira district town on Friday, reports news agency UNB.

The deceased identified as Mansur Rahman, 45, a resident of Chandipur in Shyamnagar upazila, was a suspected drug trader, police said.

He was wanted in 14 cases.

Hearing sound of gunshots, a team of police went to the spot and recovered the body of Mansur in the small hours of Friday, said Mostafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar police station.

Police said Mansur might have been killed in a gunfight between two groups of drug traders.

One shutter gun was recovered from the spot.

According to the human rights body, Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), at least 421 people were killed in alleged gunfights, crossfires or shootouts with the law enforcement agencies including police, RAB, BGB in 2018.

In the first six months of 2019, the number of such killing was at least 200, the rights body said on its website.
