Gazipur blast injures 17

Thirteen people sustained burns in an explosion on the ground floor of a hotel in Board Bazar, Gazipur on early Sunday, reports UNB.

Some of the injured staff said the explosion took place at Tripty Hotel around 2:00am when they were getting ready to close the hotel. Seventeen people were injured in the explosion.

Four firefighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze, said Harun-ur-Rashid, deputy director of Gazipur fire service.

Firefighters also rescued a trapped security guard from the hotel.

It is unclear what triggered the explosion, the officer said.
