BNP leader killed in factional clash in Naogaon

A BNP leader has been killed and six others injured in clashes between two groups of Naogaon’s Niamatpur upazila BNP at Khoribari hat of Bahadurpur union of the upazila, reports UNB.

The incident took place at Khoribari Hat of the upazila on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased Wahed Ali, 40, was member of Niamatpur upazila BNP convening committee and member of ward number 7 of Bahadurpur union parishad.

The injured are : BNP activists Sohel Rana, 26, Abdul Aziz, 35, Nurun Nabi Nuhu, 38, Monjur Russel, 33, Afzal Hossain, 38, and Shafiqul Islam,30.

Of the injured, Wahed Ali, Sohel Rana, Nurunnabi and Monjur Russel were rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in critical condition on Sunday night while others were treated at Niamatpur Upazila Health Complex.
Wahed Ali died on Monday morning while undergoing treatment.

Local people and police said that a union BNP workers' meeting led by Wahed Ali was going on at Khoribari Bazar of the upazila at 4:00pm.
At one stage, joint convener of upazila BNP convening committee Imran Hossain along with his supporters came to the meeting venue.

Later, at one stage of altercation, clashes ensued between the two groups.
Party sources said that upazila BNP has divided over BNP nomination in the last 11th parliamentary election.
