Tk 12.5m, yaba pills seized at Narayanganj house

Police have seized Tk 12.5 million in cash and 2,000 yaba tablets after conducting a raid at a house in Tarab municipality of Rupganj, Narayanganj on Tuesday.

Three people including house owner Jamal Hossain, his assistant Mostofa Kamal and neighbour Manik Mia were detained from the spot during the drive at night.

Being tipped-off that there were huge money and drugs at a Rasulpur residence in Tarab, a team of police led by Narayanganj superintendent of police Muhammad Harun Or Rashid conducted the raid, officer-in-charge of Rupganj police station Mahmudul Hassan said.

He said Jamal and Mostofa, originally from Barishal, bought a land at Rasulpur eight years ago and built the house.
Mahmudul Hassan said that the detained people were carrying out yaba trade in the name of mosquito coil and cattle business.

SP Harun Or Rashid said the detained people could not clarify the source of the money.

He said they do not have any legal documents for operating the business.
Cases may be filed against them under the drug control or money laundering act, the SP added.
