BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir left for Singapore for medical treatment on Thursday night, reports UNB.

Fakhrul along with his wife Rahat Ara Begum left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Singapore in a flight of Singapore Airlines around 11:55pm, said BNP chairperson’s media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan.

He said Fakhrul will receive treatment at a hospital in Singapore for various health complexities, including blockage in the nerve of his neck.

After receiving treatment there, the BNP secretary general will go to Australia to attend a meeting of Asia Pacific Democrat Union (APDU).

Earlier in March this year, Fakhrul was elected one of the three vice-chairmen of the APDU as the organisation gave BNP its full membership.

Sayrul said the BNP Fakhrul is likely to return home from Australia in mid October.
