9 BCL men held over Abrar murder: Police

Nine leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League were arrested in connection with the killing of BUET student Abrar Fahad, reports UNB.

Additional commissioner Krishnapada Roy of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) came up with the disclosure at a press briefing held on the BUET premises on Monday.

The arrestees are BUET unit Chhatra League (BCL) general secretary Mehedi Hasan Russel, its joint secretary general Fuad, information and research secretary Anik Sarkar, sports secretary Meftahul Islam, Rabin, Munna, Tanvirul Arefin, Amit Saha and Al Jami.

"After examining the footage of a close-circuit camera and the statements of witnesses, we've found the involvement of nine people in the murder," he said

Of the arrestees, six are now in DB custody while the rest three are in the custody of Chawkbazar and Shahbagh police.

Abrar, 21, a student Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) was found dead at his room at Sher-E-Bangla Hall of the university early Monday.
