Abrar killing: Another accused arrested in Satkhira

Detective branch of police on Friday afternoon arrested another accused in Abrar murder case from Isapur village of Shyamnagar upazila in Satkhira, reports UNB. 


The arrestee was identified as Shamim Billah, 21, son of Aminur Rahman Bablu of the village and a second-year student of marine engineering department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.

Anisur Rahman Molla, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Shyamnagar police station, said acting on a tip-off, a DB team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested him.

Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner of DMP (media), said Shamim was arrested around 4:00pm.

During initial interrogation he told police that he was trying to flee to India through Bhomra land port, Masudur said.

Abrar Fahad, 21, a second-year student of electrical and electronic engineering, was beaten to death on Monday reportedly by Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders at BUET's Sher-e-Bangla hall.

Abrar's father Barkatullah filed the case at Chawkbazar police station on Monday evening accusing 19 people. So far, 18 accused have been arrested.

The case was transferred to DB on Tuesday.
