Student politics cannot be banned: Razzaque

As the student politics has immense bearing on the people’s fundamental rights, such polity cannot be sent to exile by promulgating any law.

Venting such notion at a function, agriculture minister Abdur Razzaque on Saturday said they are not opposed to student politics as it helps flourish people’s democratic thoughts and spirit and also their basic rights.

He said student politics would continue to prevail as it was in the past, and it cannot be banned.

The minister was addressing as the chief guest of a research review and inaugural ceremony in Gazipur Agricultural Research Institute.

Replying to queries of journalists about the BUET student Abrar Fahad killing case he said, “This is a tragic and heartbreaking incident. There is no way we can stand by such a heinous crime.”

The programme was presided over by director general of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) Abul Kalam Azad.

Member of the parliamentary standing committee on agriculture Abdul Mannan, MP, secretary of the agriculture ministry Nasiruzzaman, National Emeritus scientist and founder of BARI Kazi M Badruddoza were also present, among others, in the programme.
