‘Mentally-ill’ mother throws son to death from building

A minor boy died as his ‘mentally’ imbalanced mother threw him from a four-storey building in the city’s Fatulla area on Monday night.

Locals said Roksana Akhter threw her son Jahin from the roof of the building in Pagla Paschim Nandalalpur around 9pm.

Family members sent the boy to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where physicians declared him dead, they said.

On information, police arrested the mother, said Aslam Hossain, officer-in-charge of Fatulla Model police station.

He said Khandaker Nuruzzaman Maruf was living at the house along with his wife Roksana, two sons and a daughter.

Family members claimed that Roksana was mentally imbalanced.
