4 held with yaba, phensidyl

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) in separate drives arrested four alleged drug peddlers along with contraband Phensidyl syrup and Yaba tablets in Shibganj upazila on Saturday and early Sunday, reports UNB.

The arrestees were identified as Sobul, 38, Ariful Islam, 25, Sanarul, 35 and Abdur Rahman, 19, in the upazila.

Acting on a tip-off, a BGB team conducted a drive at bordering Jaminpur and recovered 324 bottles of Phensidyl syrup in the early hours of Sunday, said lieutenant colonel Mahmudul Hasan, commanding officer of BGB battalion-59.

Meanwhile, a DNC team, led by its assistant director Anisur Rahman, conducted another drive at Gopalnagar and arrested four drug peddlers along 400 Yaba pills and 150 bottles of Phensidyl syrup on Saturday evening, he said.
