Parliament session begins Thursday

The fifth session of the 11th parliament begins on Thursday after a 56-day recess, reports UNB.

President Abdul Hamid summoned the session on 16 October exercising the power bestowed upon him as per Article 72 (1) of the constitution.

Prior to the start of the session at 4:15pm, the business advisory committee of parliament will sit in a meeting with speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair to fix the duration and businesses of the session.

On 12 September last, the fourth session of the 11th parliament was prorogued after only four sittings.

Only one bill was passed and five others were placed during the session that began on 8 September.
