Train engine catches fire

Train movement on Chattogram-Dohazari route remained suspended for five hours after the engine of a train caught fire at Kanchanagar Saiadabad in Chandanish upazila of Chattogram on Tuesday night, reports news agency UNB.

Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury, Dohazari station master, said the engine of the passenger train caught fire while crossing the Kanchanagar station around 9:00pm.

The loco master stopped the train as soon as he noticed the fire.

Later, a firefighting unit went to the spot and extinguished the blaze.

The train movement resumed around 2:00am on Wednesday after a relief train from Sholoshor station came to the spot and salvaged the train.

No casualty was reported in the incident.
