Family members of assistant commissioner (AC) of police Rabiul Karim, who sacrificed his life during gruesome Holey Artisan cafe attack, have expressed their satisfaction over the verdict delivered on Wednesday.

Raibul’s brother Shamsuzzaman Shams told Prothom Alo that they want speedy execution of the verdict.

He said the verdict has proved the government’s zero tolerance against militancy.

Rabiul’s mother Karimunnesa also expressed satisfaction over the verdict, reports UNB.

She broke down in tears at her village home after the court delivered the verdict on Wednesday noon.

"I was waiting for this day," she told UNB. "I want swift execution of the verdict."

She also thanked the prime minister, ministers, and police administration for standing by the family.

Seven men were sentenced to death for their roles in the deadliest terror attack in Bangladesh's history on 1 July 2016.

AC Rabiul Karim was killed when terrorists shot fires at law enforcers during a rescue operation at Holey Artisan Bakery.

Officer-in-charge of Banani police station Salauddin Khan, and 20 hostages, including 17 foreign nationals, were killed in the attack.
