Vice-president of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) Nurul Haque Nur on Thursday accused three media houses, including two private television channels, of publishing a portion of his telephonic conversation with an ill motive, reports

He came up with the allegation at a press conference held at the Madhur Canteen on the Dhaka University (DU) campus.

Noting that every citizen has a personal life, the DUCSU VP said by circulating this audio clip, the media outlets have interfered in his personal issue which is unacceptable. “This has created confusion among people about him and tarnished his image,” he said.

Terming the conversation completely personal and business-related in nature, he claimed that he was talking to a man he knew about a bank guarantee of Tk 130 million for his aunt's construction firm.

Issuing a 24-hour ultimatum to those three media houses, Nur said he will go for legal action against them if they do not offer apology.

A conversation between the DUCSU VP and an expatriate Bangladeshi over monetary contract was leaked on a private channel on 3 December.

In the audio clip, the expatriate asked Nur to send his bank account along with an e-mail address.
