A student of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology has been missing for the last three days after he was picked up allegedly by detectives from Naya Bazar area of the city on Tuesday.

He is identified as Md Shahidul Islam Azad, a student of mechanical engineering department, hailing from Lohagara upazila’s Barohatia union, reports news agency UNB.

Family members accused that some people identifying themselves as detectives picked up Shahidul by a microbus from Moushumi residential area of Naya Bazar around 9:30pm.

Shah Alam, the victim’s father, said although his son has been missing for three days, there is no information at police stations and DB office in this regard. They even did not allow lodging a general diary initially.

Finally he managed to file a general diary on Wednesday afternoon.

Md Mainur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Pahartali police station, said neither police nor detectives detained anyone by the name.

“We are looking into who picked him up. We are trying to locate his position using mobile tracking technology,” he added.
