A young man, said to be a drug addict, tried to 'commit suicide' after reportedly strangulating his wife and two children to death over a family feud at Birbhadra in Rangpur city on Sunday, reports UNB.|

The deceased were identified as Askia Akhter, 32, wife of Abdur Razzak, and their children Neha, 3, and Nishad,1.

A neighbour of Razzak entered his house around 11am as he found it unusually calm since early morning and saw Askia and her two children lying on their bed, said Kazi Muttaki Ibnu Minan, deputy commissioner (crime) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police.

Hearing screams of the neighbour, others rushed to Razzak's house and found the three bodies. They also found Razzak profusely bleeding.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to local hospital morgue.

They said Razzak might have strangled his wife and children to death over family feud some time at night and attempt to kill himself, Kazi Muttaki said.

Meanwhile, police detained Razzak for interrogation.

Abdur Rashid, brother of Aksia, said Razzak is basically a drug addict and he used to torture his wife for money.
