IU officer dismissed over corruption

The authorities of Islamic University in Kushtia permanently dismissed one of its officials for his involvement in a scam, reports UNB.

The dismissed official was identified as Abdul Halim, section officer of arts faculty building, said a press release signed by IU acting registrar SM Abdul Latif on Wednesday.

IU vice-chancellor professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Asakari issued the order under the Employee Efficiency and Disciplinary Act 15 (C), SM Abdul Latif told UNB.

He was expelled for violating the university's rules and regulations, he added.

Earlier, Abdul Halim was fined and sentenced to one year imprisonment over a cheque scam.
