Jatiya Party is going to create a new post, chief patron, for party founder HM Ershad's widow Raushon Ershad in its national council on Saturday as GM Quader will remain in the post of chairman, reports UNB.

"As the chief patron of the party, the position of Raushon, currently the senior co-chairman, will remain above the chairman," its secretary general Moshiur Rahman Ranga told reporters after a meeting of JaPa presidium members on Friday.

"The main change we're going to bring is that HM Ershad's wife Raushon Ershad will act as the party's chief patron. She's will be given the highest honour in the party, and at its meetings or general meetings," he said.
Quoting the party chairman, Ranga said Raushon will hold the highest position in the party. "As long as she is alive, she will remain in the post of chief patron of the party."
He, however, said JaPa chairman will enjoy highest power in the party, and he will preside over all meetings. "But as long as HM Ershad's wife is alive, she'll hold the position of chief patron."
He said no decision of the party will be taken unilaterally from now on as the chairman together with the co-chairmen and presidium members will make the decisions.
The ninth national council of the party will start from 10am at the Engineers Institute on Saturday.
