JaPa picks Saifuddin, Kamrul for DSCC, DNCC

Jatiya Party nominated Haji Saifuddin Ahmed Milan and Kamrul Islam as its mayoral candidates for the elections to Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) respectively.

The party finalised its candidates for the two city polls at a meeting at Jatiya Party chairman’s Banani office.

Earlier in the day, Awami League picked M Atiqul Islam as its mayoral candidate for the DNCC while Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh for the DSCC elections.

On Saturday night, BNP nominated Tabith Awal and Ishraque Hossain as its candidates for the DNCC and DSCC polls respectively.

The elections to the two city corporations will be held on 30 January next.

As per the schedule, the deadline for the submission of nomination is 31 December, while the date for scrutinising nomination papers is 2 January and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is 9 January.

The entire elections will be held using electronic voting machines (EVMs) instead of traditional ballot papers.
