Man lynched in Jashore

A man who the locals claimed to be a cattle thief was killed and another was injured after being beaten by a mob at Chandrapur village in Jhikargachha upazila of Jashore early Thursday, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Ilias, 30, son of Fazlu Mistri of Krishnagar village in the upazila.

Insan Ali, a resident of Chandrapur, said the thieves entered his cow shed around 2:00am.

“He got up hearing his cows mooing and caught the thieves with the help of locals. They beat up the duo before handing them over to police,” said Touhidul Islam, additional superintendent of Jashore police.

Injured Ilias and Abdul, 30, were taken to Jashore Medical College Hospital but Ilias succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital.
