Saudi Arabia deports 217 more Bangladeshi workers

UNB File PhotoAnother 217 Bangladeshi workers were deported to the country by Saudi Arabia on Thursday, reports UNB.

A Saudi Airlines flight carrying 103 workers landed at Shahjalal Airport at 11:20pm on Wednesday while another flight with 114 more workers landed at 1:10am on Thursday.

With this more than 2,500 Bangladeshi workers were sent back from the Middle East country in last three weeks.

BRAC Migration Programme with collaboration of Expatriate Welfare Desk provided necessary aid to the returnees.

BRAC Migration Programme chief Shariful Hasan said many of the deportees were lured to the Middle East country with promises of good jobs and better lives.

"Almost all of them returned home empty handed," Shariful said.
