Man lynched on allegation of theft

A suspected thief was lynched at Shubhorara Mathpara in Abhaynagar upazila of Jashore early Friday, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Illias Sheikh, 40, of the upazila.

Police said local people caught Illias in front of the house of a certain Asad Bhuiya when he went there for stealing a rickshaw van around 4:00am.

Local people beat him up, leaving him dead on the spot, said Touhidul Islam, additional superintendent of police.

Police recovered the body and sent it to local hospital morgue for autopsy.
