Fakhrul, Atiqul exchange greetings at press club

In a coincidental meeting, Awami League nominated mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) polls Atiqul Islam exchanged greetings with BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday.

Fakhrul went to the National Press Club to join the election manifesto unveiling programme of their party’s Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayoral aspirant Ishraque Hossain while Atiqul for exchanging views with leaders of the club.

After Ishraque’s programme, Fakhrul went to the press club's Television Lounge for taking tea, where AL candidate Atiqul was also present around 12:30pm.

Seeing the BNP secretary general, Atiqul rushed towards him and exchanged pleasantries.

Flanked by the JPC members, the two continued conversations for a while.

Fakhrul and Atiqul also posed before cameras at the request of newsmen.

BNP standing committee member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku and vice-chairman Abdullah Al Noman and senior press club leaders, including prime minister’s ex-information adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, press club president Saiful Alam, vice president Omar Farroque and treasurer Shyamal Dutta were, among others, present.
