Ilias Kanchan files Tk 1b defamation case against Shajahan Khan

Popular film actor and founder of Nirapad Sarak Chai movement Ilias Kanchan on Wednesday filed a Tk 1 billion defamation case against former shipping minister Shajahan Khan, reports UNB. 

Supreme court lawyer Md Rezaul Karim filed the case on behalf of Kanchan with joint district and sessions judge's court around 4:00pm.

Judge Utpal Bhattyacharya fixed Thursday for hearing.

According to case statement, on 8 December last year, Shajahan Khan at a programme in Rupganj made offensive and abusive remarks about Ilias Kanchan.

Shajahan, also transport workers' leader, said: "I'd disclose it to the people how Ilias Kanchan gets money and for what purpose, how much money he takes for himself and how much for his son and daughter-in-law."
