Latif to be removed from party, cabinet: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina decided to strip Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Abdul Latif Siddique of posts of Awami League also.
Sheikh Hasina on Thursday morning at the VIP lounge of Sylhet MAG Osmani International Airport told the party leaders that Latif Siddique will be dropped from his party and cabinet positions for making derogatory remarks against religion.
Awami League central organising secretary Misbahuddin Siraj and Sylhet district Awami League president Abduz Zahir Chowdhury Sufian confirmed the Prime Minister's decision to Prothom Alo.
Earlier on Sunday, Latif Siddique at an exchange of views with the Tangail Association members at a hotel in Jackson Heights in New York made defamatory remarks on Hajj, Tablighi Jamaat, journalists and prime minister's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
