A case was filed against ruling Awami League member of parliament (MP) Manzurul Isalm Liton in connection with shooting of a minor boy in Gaibandha on Friday.
Saju Mia, father of the minor boy, filed the case around 9:00pm on Saturday, said Sundarganj police station officer-in-charge Zinnat Ali.
The eight-year old boy, Sourav, was injured with stray bullets at Gopalcharan village of Sundarganj upazila in Gaibandha early Friday when AL MP, Manzurul Islam Liton, AL MP for Gaibandha-1 constituency, opened fire with his pistol.
The OC said the case was filed under the section 326 and 307 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Asked about the next course of action, the OC said, “The accused is an MP. So, measures will be taken to arrest him following relevant rules and procedures.”
Earlier in the evening, supporters of AL MP deposited the MP’s pistol and shotgun to the Sundarganj police station.
