Execution of Salauddin, Mojaheed anytime
Death-row convicts BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed will be executed tonight (Saturday-Sunday), said additional Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner Sheikh Maruf Hasan.
The police official was talking to newsmen in front of Dhaka central jail on Saturday night.
Following the wish of Salauddin and Mojaheed’s family members, the dead bodies of the convicts will be sent to their village homes for burial.
The jail authorities are now all set to execute Salauddin and Mojaheed as the president rejected their reported mercy petitions.
According to jail code, two magistrates, the inspector general (prisons), the Dhaka deputy commissioner and a civil surgeon are now inside the jail.
Family members of Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed have already met the death row convicts in jail.
