Mysterious deaths of siblings at Banasree

Two siblings died mysteriously in their sleep after taking restaurant food at Banasree in Dhaka on Monday.

The deceased are Nusrat Jahan, 14, and her brother Alvi Aman, 6 - children of Amanullah, a businessman.

Nusrat is a Class VII student of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College while Alvi was a nursery student of Holy Crescent School.

Zahidul Islam, friend of Amanullah, said the victims’ family took dinner with food items bought from a local Chinese restaurant on Sunday night at their house on road-4 of B block at Banasree.

The children took the same food from fridge at lunch on Monday and went to sleep in their room. As they did not wake up and did not respond to repeated call of their mother Jasmine in the afternoon, they were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared them dead around 8:00pm. The parents got fainted at the shock.

Officer-in-charge Rafiqul Islam of Rampura police station said a team of police has been sent to the Chinese restaurant, and they are investigating whether the cause of the deaths is food poisoning or anything else.
