Over 200 Bangladeshis die of COVID-19 in 11 countries

As many as 201 Bangladeshi expatriates have died of coronavirus in 11 countries around the world, according to diplomatic sources and expatriate communities.

The death toll is the highest in the US as 131 Bangladeshis lost their lives there as of Sunday. At least 9 people, 7 in New York and 2 in Washington, died in the last 48 hours.

Several hundred Bangladeshi expatriates have been infected with the virus in the country.

In the UK, 48 Bangladeshis have died as of Monday afternoon, according to Bangladesh missions in London and Manchester and sources of the expatriate community in the country.

Most of the deceased are from London city.

Besides, 6 Bangladeshis have died of the virus in Italy, four in Canada, three each in Saudi Arabia and Spain, two in Qatar, and one each in Sweden, United Arab Emirates, Libya and Gambia.

According to the Singapore health ministry, 669 Bangladeshis were infected with coronavirus in Singapore as of Sunday.

The number of infected is 74 in Italy, 70 in Spain, 25 in Kuwait, 20 each in Canada and France, 12 in Malaysia and 10 in Germany.
