Over half of 8,204 virus infected policemen recover

A total of 4,541 policemen among 8,204 made full recovery from coronavirus as of Wednesday morning, reports UNB.

“Among the total patients, 2,003 policemen are attached to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP),” said sources at the police headquarters.

Most of the policemen, who recovered earlier, have joined their respective duty stations.

Members of Bangladesh police, armed forces, and RAB, along with other agencies have been jointly working to ensure social distancing across the country amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier on Monday, 53 policemen were released from Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital (CPH).

The sources said that 27 policemen and one civilian member of the law enforcement agency died of COVID-19 till date.

Members of Bangladesh police, armed forces, and RAB, along with other agencies have been jointly working to ensure social distancing across the country amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Bangladesh has so far reported 98,489 coronavirus cases and 1,305 deaths.

In a bid to contain the outbreak, the government has introduced red zone and put them under strict lockdown across the country.

Seventeen areas under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 28 areas under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 11 areas in Chattogram, sadar, Rupganj and Araihazar upazilas of Narayanganj, Narsingdi model and Madhabdi thanas, Palash upazila in Narsingdi and all upazilas of Gazipur will be declared as red zones, according to UNB.
