'25 recruiting agencies out to form a syndicate to send migrants to Malaysia'

Private recruiting agencies have protested the reported move by some 25 recruiting agencies to form a syndicate aimed at sending migrant workers to Malaysia.

The private recruiters said if all Malaysian agencies are involved in recruiting labourers from Bangladesh, why only 25 agencies from Bangladesh would be involved in workers recruitment.

All agencies must get the opportunity to send migrants to Malaysia, they added.

The recruiters under the banner of General Recruiting Agency Owners came up with this demand in a press conference at Dhaka Reporters' Unity in the capital on Monday.

In a written statement, they claimed, according to the proposal of Malaysia, a total of 250 agencies will work for these 25 recruiting agencies as sub-agents. These 250 agencies will mainly act as manpower agent.

It is an unethical and humiliating proposal. A recruiting agency cannot be a sub agent of another recruiting agency that is equivalent to it. Over 1,600 agencies in Nepal are involved in sending workers to Malaysia, they added.

In the press briefing, the businessmen demanded to ensure the equal opportunity to all agencies at the joint technical meeting to be held between Bangladesh and Malaysia.

They said, the syndicate members deceitfully approved a list of 10 recruiting agencies as agent and 200 recruiting agencies as sub-agents from the prime minister office in 2016.

This time, a similar ill attempt are being orchestrating though the High Court (HC) in 2018 ordered not to form any syndicate over the Malaysian labour market, they added.
