PM Hasina rejects bureaucrats' proposal to name solar plant after her
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday has turned down a proposal of bureaucrats to name a solar power plant project after her.
The prime minister, instead, asked them to call the power plant 'Solar Park, Jamalpur' as it will be established at Madarganj in Jamalpur, said planning minister MA Mannan while briefing newsmen after the meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).
MA Mannan said a proposal was placed at the meeting to name the 100 megawatt solar power plant after prime minister Sheikh Hasina. But the prime minister opposed the idea immediately and asked them to exclude her name from this project.
“Instead, she fixed the title of the power plant ‘Solar Park, Jamalpur’,” the minister added.
