Awami League holds victory rallies across the country

Ruling Awami League organised a victory rally from Suhrawardy Udyan to Bangabandhu Bhaban in the capital's historic Dhanmondi Rd 32, marking the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's victory.

During the inauguration of the procession, the party repeated the oath administered by prime minister and AL president Sheikh Hasina on 16 December, to build the Golden Bengal of Bangabandhu's dream by thwarting all conspiracies at home and abroad.

Leaders and activists of Awami League and its affiliated organizations from Mohammadpur, Rampura, Shahbagh, Dhaka North City Corporation and other parts of the city joined the rally with banners, festoons, flags, boats and musical instruments from 12 noon on Saturday. The procession started at 2:00pm.

After the procession, leaders and activists of various thana, and ward units, Jubo League and other affiliated organisations of the party started meeting at Suhrawardy Udyan.

Leaders, activists and supporters of AL paraded through the city's Shahbagh, Elephant Road, Kalabagan and other areas.

Amir Hossain Amu, a member of the party's advisory council and spokesperson of the 14-party central committee, has announced the inauguration of the victory procession in the hope of building a golden Bangladesh.

He said, "while the country is moving forward with the hand of Bangabandhu daughter Sheikh Hasina, some are still conspiring against the country”.

AL presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak said that the father of the nation fought against all conspiracies at home and abroad and snatched independence 50 years ago. Right today, one of us has to strengthen the hand of the people's leader Sheikh Hasina, confront all conspiracies and build the golden Bengal of the dream of the father of the nation.

Awami League advisory council member Amur Hossain Amu presided over the rally.

Afzal Hossain, office secretary barrister Biplob Barua, Sujit Roy Nandi, science and technology affairs secretary Abdus Saburas, forest and environment affairs secretary Delwar Hossain were present the occasion.

Among others, president and general secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan North and South Awami League, South City Corporation mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, and North City Corporation mayor Atiqul Islam also joined the event.

Beside Dhaka city, the processions were held in Jashore, Rangpur, Sirajganj and other parts of the country.
