Jamaat secretary general Golam Parwar among 9 detained in Dhaka
Police have detained nine Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and activists including their secretary general Mia Golam Parwar.
They were rounded up from a house in Basundhara residential area in Dhaka on Monday evening.
Md Asaduzzaman, deputy commissioner of Gulshan division police, confirmed the matter to Prothom Alo.
He told Prothom Alo, “Jamaat leaders sat in a secret meeting to plot sedition and destabilise the country. After receiving such information, we launched a drive there and detained them.”
Rafiqul Haque, inspector of Bhatara police station, said the drive was still going on around 8.45pm.
