BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said Khaleda Zia had developed heart and kidney complications leading to a fluctuation in her temperature.

The BNP leader came up with this statement during a press conference at the party’s chairperson office at Gulshan on Monday.

Mirza Fakhrul said, “We are sincerely grateful to the physicians as they are trying to their best. But they have reiterated that our hospitals are not well-equipped to treat the ailments of the chairperson.”

“As the hospitals here lack the technology required to conduct different kinds of tests, they recommend advanced facilities for her treatment,” he added.

When asked whether any effort would be made for the treatment of country’s former prime minister, Fakhrul replied, “The problem is, we are yet to get permission to take madam (Khaleda Zia) abroad. Given the situation, we are mulling over what to do.”
