Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Thursday described the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2022-23 as “pro-people and business friendly” which will revive the post-Covid economy, reports news agency BSS.

He said this while giving reaction over the proposed budget to newspersons outside the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban (parliament building) after the end of budget presentation in parliament.

Quader, also General Secretary of ruling Awami League, said in the proposed budget, the allocation for social safety net has been increased by Tk 70 billion (7,000 crore) compared to the present allocation.

The issues of lower income group and middle-class people have been highlighted in the budget, he added.

“So, it is a budget for the poor. It’s a business-friendly and pro-people budget,” he said.
