Shamim Osman's violation of code of conduct does not require action: CEC

Chief election commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has said that all measures have been taken to make Narayanganj city elections free and fair, reports BSS.

"Elections to be held without clashes and any kind of mismanagement in Narayanganj as proper measures have been taken for free and fair election," he told after exchanging views with the presiding officers at Narayanganj Morgan School on Wednesday.

In response to a query from reporters, he said, "The press conference of Narayanganj-4, MP, Shamim Osman was violation of the code of conduct. However, he did not violate the code of conduct that requires him to be brought under the law."

"There would be no fear at Narayanganj City Corporation election...People would be able to exercise their voting rights in a free, fair and peaceful environment," he said.

Regarding increasing of coronavirus, the CEC said, "Voters and those who will be engaged in election activities must wear masks and follow other health guidelines in all the centers on the day of polling."
